Lets see, I was awarded the Editors Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry for my poem "Lord as I Travel". The same poem is slated to be published in their next publication. Very excited about that.
Rev. James Porter was recently selected for the Choice Editors Award November 2007 for his poem "Rwanda Tragedy", August 2006 for his Poem "You Took the Children" and also in September 2005 for his poem "Lord as I Travel" from Poetry/poem.com. Rev. Porter is retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of faithful service. He married to Angela Porter and has two childred. Son, Marshaun of Eugene, OR married to Daijavon and they have three children and Daughter, Jamie Porter of El Centro, CA. He is now the Pastor of Second Missionay Baptist Church, Yuma, Arizona. He is the past Pastor of Truelight Missionary Baptist Church, El Centro, CA and past Deputy Director, Johnson Educational Institute, El Centro, CA. Rev. Porter following the footsteps of his older brother, Rev. Clarence Edwards Sr. a renouned poet himself. Both James and Clarence plan to continue publishing more poems as God directs their paths.
