I have had to guard
this heart of mine



Because of all the
hurt and pain
that I have seen



And even
though
a part of me



Would like to
truly love again



It is just going
to take
me some more time



Before I can
allow myself



To break down
these
walls of mine



That have been
built up over time



But if I ever do
break them down



So that I can
get the chance



To truly fall
in  
love again



It will take a
very
special person



To awaken
this
heart of mine



But hopefully some
day it will happen



And if it ever does



I would only hope that
it could be something
that was everlasting



Because if it was



I would feel like I was
on top of the world again
