night crawlin

night crawlin was an art:
sometimes you would catch a bunch together and you'd have to pull them apart:

we'd hold our flashlight jusy right:
then grab on and hold tight:

you had to be quick to grab:
cause night crawlers were hard to nab:

they were quicker than you thought:
but you knew they were a penny a piece if you bought:

everyone we saw we saw a penny:
and you know there were so many:

one time we caught 1,000 or more:'
we thought we'd be rich for sure:

once we cashed the night crawlers in and split the money three way:
it wasnt even that much pay:

but we spent hours and hours each night:
trying to catch em right:

to be used as bait:
was the night crawlers final fate:

by selling them for a penny a piece:
we thought we'd be rich at least:
