I know it's early
but i didn't wanna be late,
on account of being busy
and miss a very important date....
Didn't know my grandmas sadly so
but my pap-paps i sure knew,
the one would come and go
while the other
picked me up when i was blue.
Yeah he was my buddy
i'm not ashamed to say,
i wish i had him here now
but nobody lives forever,
tho i was just a wee lass
it was like yesterday,
if only that's how
time was measured.
Take 40+ years and roll them
into 40+ months instead,
my pap-pap and i would
still be making memories,
i pretty much grew up
without him tucking me into bed,
but i'm not too old that
i forget his endless pleasantries.
My mom always said he'll continue to live
in your heart that i promised her,
that's the best gift to her i can give
for being the memory keeper's daughter.
Yes i hear some kids say we gotta
go to my grandparent's place
sure wish i could get out of it somehow,
they should be thankful at that age
to still have them to face,
cause mine i hardly had much time with
oh how i wish i had them now.
(Happy Grandparents Day)
and to all you ungrateful brats out there
wise up:cause the time will come
when they'll go away to stay!
