an angel in the chips©

There she sat throwing
money away every tuesday,
for bingo was her
favorite game to play.
Her family told her she
wasn't lucky enuff to win,
but still she sat there
again and again.
They finally told her
they couldn't take part,
and let it go
any longer claiming
they didn't have the heart.
They also threatened her
and said
she couldn't be trusted alone,
and that they were
setting things up
to put her in a home.
They were worried her money
was running out,
and that there wouldn't be any
to leave them no doubt.
But still she continued,
and thus just
making worse the feud.
With this all going on
she didn't give up,
when it came to bingo
she couldn't get enuff.
You see what the family
didn't know,
was that she
was diagnosed with
terminal cancer 6 months ago.
Most of her money was
already gone for it was spent,
on what her insurance
didn't cover
for her cancer treatment.
All this happened
right under their nose,
their only concern was her
wasting THEIR money
as the story goes.
She was only trying to
get it back
for soon she would die,
and they'd have something to
depend on and
remember her by.
One day as she sat there
just as faithfully as you please,
an angel came by wishing luck
and was off with the breeze.
The caller yelled out
the number,
and bingo was heard
by nobody but her.
Now normally this wouldn't be
such a big call,
but just minutes before
a donation was made
to the bingo hall.
It seems somebody caught
wind of her tale,
and donated to the game
just at that moment
without fail.
Meanwhile the family
heard of this news,
and thought they long since
paid their dues.
And again their only concern
was greed,
and from the worry of money
they were freed.
The lady died later
that very same day,
but while she hung on
to dear life,
on her deathbed
she cleverly lay.
She summoned them all
to her side,
and said she had something
she must confide.
They just knew
she was going to say,
that she won back their money
she gambled away.
But much to their surprise,
once again the money
was gone.....................
right before their eyes.
She said she found
them deserving
and donated it to the hospital,
in the hopes that love
and caring not greed,
would get the better
of the next poor soul.
Never place money and things
over a person.............................
that just may be
the greatest sin!
