She crept quietly into my room
While my eyes were closed with
Remnants of sleep fading on
White cotton sheets.
Night hours had decayed
Crumbling through the fingers
Of dawn
And my mind still slept soundly
Unaware of seconds past.
Joy filled my room
As she cast her eyes
Upon my cluttered bed
Where last nights book
Slipped from my hands
And lay half hidden
Under fuchsia bedspread.
I lay,
Watching her surround my walls
With a glow of buttercup yellow.
Her smile danced across
My dressing table
My eyelashes waiting in their case
Alongside the new plum lipstick
Which claimed to be this seasons
‘new' trend.
I stretched my arms wide
And pointed my toes to the window
Urging myself to join her merry dance
Across the white painted floorboards.
She took a final peek at my tousled head
Before escaping into a path of morning dew.
I watched her as she fled across green fields,
Her mission accomplished…
Until tomorrow.
