Transcendental Sonnet #1440: Another Day
for Teddy, "my son the actor"
Whatever happens now we did our best
The lights are up now and the curtain down
And if it was well then we passed the test
But leave it to the critics and the town
We know we gave our uttermost and so
Do they because that is the only way
They know and so do we and it will be
Another show tomorrow every day
We always leave them laughing when we go
And there is nothing I would rather do
Than be a trouper and to bring the show
An entertainer here alongside you
A showman now and always born and bred
Another day along another ahead
