Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

I learnt my own defeat

I have never really finished all that I had begun
for I learnt to fail,
I learnt to lose,
I learnt to turn and run
whenever problems flourished someone was to blame
so I learnt to hide,
I learnt to cry,
I learnt to fear my name
disasters would come often to wipe out all my dreams
then I learnt to hope,
I learnt to pray,
I learnt from all I'd seen
now I am the total of all that's not complete
as I learn to wait,
I learn alone
now I've learnt my own defeat.
