Why is there
This boobie prize
Called
Being Authentic?
There's a difference
Between just
Being who you
Are,
And doing something
Uncomfortable,
And it's often
Confused
That being uncomfortable
Is counterproductive
To being
Authentic.
Uncomfortable
Is when you
Are gay and
Need to hide
It because
The last guy
In your class
To come out
Committed suicide
From all the
Hazing.
The uncomfortable
Things I hear
You complaining
And whining
About
Is when
You have to
Conform to a
Schedule,
When you
Prefer
Freeform,
And why couldn't
Everyone do that?
Society
Without some
Structure
Isn't precisely
Freedom.
I'm not sure
We are talking
About the same
Thing here.
What about
Being really
Honest with
Oneself?
That you feel
Uncomfortable
Isn't unauthentic,
Only a feeling,
And stuffing
Your feelings
Is not honoring
Your authentic being,
But sharing
Is optional.
Who says
That authenticity
Is the end all
Be all?
Who says
That everyone
You meet
Can appreciate
Who you really
Are,
When not everyone
Is in the best
Space to take
In who you
Are being
And all that
You are feeling
In this moment,
As if they
Only exist
As your audience
For your
Feelings?
Compassion
Is giving the
Understanding
You want to receive,
Yourself.
The lie is
That you can't
Be authentic
With those
Around you
Because of
Some imagined
Constraint,
Some judgment
Feared,
Some consequence
One believes
They don't
Or can't
Live with,
Or without.
Being uncomfortable
Is always an
Opportunity
For growth,
If one has
The courage
To look upon
The source
Of discomfort.
Being Authentic
Is an imagined
Construct,
Woven by
Whatever ones
Personal experiences
Are or aren't,
Because
Being requires
Nothing
In reality,
But being
At peace
With oneself,
Loving who
We are,
Right here,
Right now,
And expressing
As little
Or as much
As one
Feels internally
Lead to do so
In the
Present moment.
Everything else
Is lying to
Ourselves,
Regardless
Of any audience,
Real or
Imagined.
