The Lancean Specificity

Mower of the Endless Lawns

I would rather live poor than die rich on my knees
For the rest of my life I would live as I please

And by rich on my knees I do not mean in prayer
But in servitude as once the rich kept me there
Where I could only stand to half my height because
Though shorter I stood taller than the rich man was

Which was unheard of that a nobody like me
Should notice that certain illegitimacy
Without making the illegitimate nervous
And rocking the boat of my indentured service

Though I am not a stableboy I was before
Mower of the endless lawns but not anymore
