The Lancean Specificity

Today

for all my friends with all my love

Yesterday was good but I believe today is better than
Any other day if simply since this is the only day
The only way of being on this morning we are seeing
Of the only day we are as far as anyone may know
Should tomorrow never come today could be enough for me

Yesterday cannot forget today the way tomorrow can
Remember as the flame when ember May then in December
If yesterday may not forget tomorrow may remember
But one is not and one is never and this day forever
In the now is how today is as around and round we go

On this only day we are as far as anyone may see
Nothing may withhold this day hold down nor hold back for delay
None prevent us from the only day that matters anyway
Should tomorrow never come today could be enough for me
Should I never see tomorrow I would always be today

For the ever of forever as far as we ever know
As far as the ways of always go on each of our todays
In the only way we know on this our only day today
If tomorrow may remember yesterday may not forget
Yesterday was good but I believe today is better yet

And as I turn eternity before the all of always
After the meaning of what I mean no matter what I say
Now is all I need to know today is all I need to see
Should I never see tomorrow I would always be today
Should tomorrow never come today could be enough for me

As the arching spans of ivory expand now to enfold
Such of the winds of now as when of then may hope to hold
As the bellows rise and fall and they recall the winds of old
Striving steadily determined in the perseverance of
The quest for inspiration I see being inspired by love

And now I understand this struggle underneath my hand
How this one heartbeat this one breath is all we ever are
Fluttering within a cage of bone with death one step away
One moment toward another we are in the in betweening
Catching our breath that the beat may go on momentarily

Between what was and what will be the moment is the meaning
Of the only day we are as far as anyone may know
As one with the sun we rise and fall to be or not to be
The difference between a rising and a falling star
At the crossing as we are of tomorrow and yesterday

Should tomorrow never come today could be enough for me
Should I never see tomorrow I would always be today
