The Lancean Specificity

Like the Birth of a Star

for Heather when I see her again

I have been thinking about you all day today
Thanking you with all my heart that you trust me to
Always be myself and to be honest with you
Wanting you to know that I trust you this same way

Knowing you know you have learned from me but also
Knowing you have given me the gift not to know
But ultimately to believe that we will be
Together in the circle dance of family
Knowing we are better because we have known us

Love in life through time time and again has shown us
That we found each other because we needed this
Spark of the world we share this universal kiss
The transcendental in the us of you and me

As we are the ones who are privileged to see
Humans drawn together by our propinquity
Our dysfunctional human family arise
Weary now from sleepwalking through their history
And now finally rubbing the sleep from their eyes

As now at the best time to be alive we are
No doubt about that nor this heartbeat nor this breath
If all life must die let us live ourselves to death
As I remember you like the birth of a star
