 Penniluck's legacy

My son My son

To my identical twin sons Billy and Glen on their 41st birthday. I love you and always will. Mum xxx

I don`t think I ever told you how excited I was
when I found out you were two instead of one.
How honored and proud of that achievement
I was, My son my son
They said I was too fat and drank
too much lemonade, so deprived me of my need
for one month, I gained a stone.
They were so puzzled until I suggested
perhaps there were two of you.
`Ah!` they cried as if they had just
found the earth was round.
No scans in 1970 so exrays were done
and guess what they found my son my son
Two tiny babies preparing for birth
The anti-natal clinic shook with mirth and joy
It passed from one to one, I hugged it to myself
So proud to be your mum.
Then you were born with a room full of students
who had all begged to be there.
Where when you were weighed and found to be
over 15 pound between you, they almost
shouted Eureka, like they had made you
I saw their pride and smiled at everyone
I knew you see you were mine, my son, my son.
All over the hospital from high to low
they came to see my precious twins.
Patients and nurses fought about
who should feed you next
`It`s my turn`. was a refrain I heard
all the time, but I did not mind
Because I knew you were mine.
41 years later I still see those days
Still smell the smells
Still hear the sounds of joy
A boy and a boy.
Only Jesus had more people
cheer at his birth.
Now you are men and I`m proud
of all you have done and become.
I love you so dearly, my son, my son
Take with you through life
That joy my boy, my boy.
Remember today to have lots of fun
and that you are special
identical individuals
My son, my son.
