In the Prose of Passion

Hidden Heroes

She wakes up every morning
Another brand new day
Goes over all her lessons
And what she's going to say
Her job is so important
Young lives depend on her
She gets the satisfaction
From every boy and girl

But then she starts to worry
Is she going to lose her job?
Will they have the money?
These kids are all she's got

It's not for the money
It's not for the fame
It's not for the glory
No wealth does she gain
She's no famous actor
Or athlete who can hit
She's just a hidden hero
Yes that's what she is

He sacrifices daily
To keep his neighbors safe
He knows his job's important
He's always in Harms way
He sees the world around him
And wonders if they care
Complaining ‘bout their taxes
He doesn't think it's fair

That all these baseball players
Who play a game of fun
Complaining ‘bout their wages
They don't get paid enough

It's not for the money
It's not for the fame
It's not for the glory
No wealth does he gain
He's no famous actor
Or athlete who can pitch
He's just a hidden hero
Yes that's what he is

They're teachers and they're doctors
Your local firemen
Policemen and your neighbor
Most likely your close friend
They do their jobs for service
Because they love to help
But do we really thank them
Our actions really tell

We need to stop and listen
And when we do we'll see
So many hidden heroes
Who live for you and me

It's not for the money
It's not for the fame
It's not for the glory
No wealth do they gain
They're no famous actor
Or football superstar
They're just hidden heroes
Yes that's what they are
