 CRANKY MOTORBIKE (REVISED VERSION)

To all the staff at St. Lukes Hospice Yorkshire...may I thank you all for your patience and support of our dear father Brian Hudson.
Please find enclosed a written poem... which was read out at Brian's funeral service....did make everybody laugh...To those who knew him well. These words summed up our dear father.
May I compliment your wonderful organization... for giving people dignity and respect on the last chapter of their lives.

‘Cranky Motorbike'

It's an old motorbike.
It is...
A cranky old thing.
With its quirky nature...
Of old wiring...
Rusted wheels and chromed nuts.
Throttle open...
Carburettor takes in air...
As juices flow...
Pistons rattle and shake...
Exhaust pipe complains...
Gearbox grinds...
Clutch whines...
Brakes...
Squeal and squirm...
Don't rev...
To high and drop a valve.
Crankcase pressure is too high.
Their are days...
When the air is good...
Slightly cool...
But not too hot...
My old father's motorbike...
Flies...
Like a possessed rock...
In a lady's frock!

In memory of my dear father Brian Hudson who died on the 2nd March 2011.
