There's a woman
Who saved
Herself
By giving
Gifts…
& now
She walks
The streets
Giving flowers
Of every color
And variety.
What if we
Walked like
Egyptians in
A wall heading
Towards those
Holding guns
Against their
Own people
Extending hands
Not with fists
But with flowers…
Would they
Take them?
Accept them?
Or are the
60's dead
& gone?
What if
We did it
Before it came
To that?
What if
We all stopped
The madness
In our individual
Corners of
The world
Before
"The Collapse"
And showed
Our humanity
Expressed our
Compassion
For the fact
That most people
Are fighting
Either themselves
Or projecting
That internal
Conflict
On some
"Other" person…
To derail
The negativity train
With a bed
Of flowers.
I remember
The MOUNTAIN
Of flowers
Pilled high beside
Columbine High School
After the shootings.
I wonder
If we took those flowers
And handed them out
To the children
Who didn't feel
Loved,
To all the kids
So they could
Feel
Like someone
Actually gave
A !@#$%^
If we gave them
To the police officers
Before they
Had to don
The riot gear
To the School board
Before they made
Decisions or voted
To look the other way.
To hand out
That mountain
Of colors
That God created
The florist
Tended with care
So that one kid
Who couldn't
Take it any more
And felt that
They were
Alone
Was handed
A dozen
Flowers
Just today
Would decide
That maybe
The world isn't
As bad as they
Thought,
And chose
To stay
Instead of
Opting
For suicide
Or a massacre.
I don't think
It's silly.
I don't think
It's overly
Idealistic.
One woman
Is walking around
Without her cane
Because her
Multiple Sclerosis
Is in "remission"
Because of those
Flowers.
And I don't think
We should wait
Until more
Children
And soldiers
Are dead
To send them
Flowers
After they have
The ability
To appreciate them.
Do you?
If you believe
There isn't
Enough goodness
Or kindness in
Life
Try reigning
The world
In random
Acts
And use flowers
Like bullets
To destroy
The enemies
Of joy.
