The Lancean Specificity

Transcendental Sonnet #1456: Not Easy to be Fifty-Six

for the Laughing Daffodil

It is not easy to be fifty-six

As the same inside but not out being
Broken and broke as I am in the fix
Of better late now than never seeing
How the temporariness of it all
Juxtaposes me with eternity
And makes me feel like a leaf in the fall

Riding the wind like a cork on the sea
Falling like a feather through the weather
Almost like flying but then finally
Down and again only when not whether
On a one way trip as I come to see
What I make of what comes and it of me

It is not easy to be fifty-six
