Pray for Remission of Sins
Please have pity on me O Lord,
Do not let my pleas be ignored;
In keeping with mercy and grace,
To help me through what I must face.
In keeping with Your compassion,
Please continue in that fashion;
And wipe out my rebellious acts,
Avert temptation it attracts.
Wash me wholly of guilt and sin,
Let Your Spirit make pure within;
This body is a stinking shell,
That really belongs down in hell.
I am a rebellious creature,
Being part of human nature;
My sin is here in front of me,
And always where my eyes can see.
I have sinned in thought word and deed,
In putting myself first with greed;
What you say is evil I have done,
Please forgive me and do not shun.
Hand down Your justice when You speak,
And I will accept the judgment You seek;
I will not look for an appeal,
For any judgment that You may seal.
But I ask if You could just say,
I forgive you if you trust and obey;
Stop being rebelliously wild,
Be a good and faithful child.
