The true picture of me

Having conquered my fear of the darkness
knowing that courage can be found deep within
and the angels and demons with whom I still battle
…can no longer force me to sin.

Each triumph goes always unnoticed
so many battles that the memories now fade
always fighting for the right to be as any other man
…but the truth is that's not how I'm made.

I was born as a delicate small flower
with the gentleness that only lovers can know
my mind was a place where rainbows were everywhere
…but this flower had nowhere to grow.

For all around me grew taller and stronger
there was nowhere that I could hide
so this gentle little mind that wished for only rainbows
…decided its best that he died.

Reborn from the seed much stronger and wiser
and as tall as I needed to be
but this man I'd become was never what was meant to be
...was never the true picture of me.
