 356. Impressions
I am nothing
But a landscape
Of impressions…
My heart is shaped
By every love
I've ever had
And been
Broken by.

All the Beloveds
I've loved,
I still carry
On the inside
Of my chest
Precious memories
Of good times
By the beach,
Under the moonlight,
In snow angels,
By mountain trails,
On roller coasters,
Between the sheets.

Of all the foods
I've ever let
Touch my soul
Your flavors
Still haunt me…
Through smells
And tastes
Through my
Life…
I am never
Without
Your lingering
Bitter-sweet
Memories.

I cannot drive
Past anyplace
Where I've
Made memories
And not have
Them flood
My mind…
Every road
Is full of
The impressions
My own life
Has
Accumulated.

I can only wonder
What impressions
I have left
In my wake…
And pray
That they are
As pleasant
As I remember,
And for those
That are not…
Ask forgiveness
And hope
That it
Made someone
Stronger.
