My Poems are written straight from my heart, some are from the hardships I have experienced in my life, and some are from the inspiration of my two boys Matthew and Adam
A Father and a Dad
When I sit down and count the many blessings I've been given,
There's one that stands alone that truly makes my life worth living.
Of all the gifts that God bestowed, I honor two I've had,
A loving Heavenly Father and a Christian earthly dad.
Now it was many years ago, God blessed me at my birth,
With you, my loving dad, who always placed his children first.
And through the years you raised me in a fatherly tradition,
You taught me how to be an adult in love and admonition.
For dad, you've always been around to give me sound advice,
Your roadmap for success has made an impact on my life.
And sometimes when a problem came that needed to be solved,
My dad, you came to help me out and then you stayed involved.
For dad, you are my confidante, my true and dearest friend,
You never have forsaken me no matter where I've been.
So I would like to take this time to say to you today,
I love you dad with all my heart in many special ways.
For you were always there for me to meet my deepest needs,
Your love did not give up on me when I caused you to grieve.
And even when I made mistakes and I deserved your anger,
I always could depend on you to guide me out of danger.
The time I spend with you has always meant so much to me,
You've truly taught me many things in which I do believe.
I treasure any day we've taken time to stop and talk,
Or sit down for a meal or take a trip, a drive or walk.
I never will not forget the many times you gave support,
To me, your child, who every day, can only love you more.
Now every day is Father's Day for each day you're a father,
You're sunshine on a cloudy day, to thirst, a drink of water.
If in a dictionary, love was typed upon a space,
We'd see the definition as a picture of your face.
I hope that I can be to you what you have been to me,
For anywhere you need my help, then that is where I'll be.
And now I have two Fathers so to me I'm doubly blessed,
To have One up in Heaven and to have the earthly best.
For I'm so thankful to my Heavenly Father up above,
Who saved my soul so I could know the beauty of His love.
And due to my salvation I received from Jesus Christ,
I truly understand the love you've shown me in my life.
So dad, I'll say to you again, "I love you very much",
Love has new meaning for me since I felt the Savior's touch.
The things this world may offer can't compare to what I've had,
I'm blessed on earth and Heaven with a Father and a dad…
