It Rained on Me Today
It rained on me today...
The droplets falling down my face,
It had a cold I couldn't hold....
But I held it anyway,
It rained on me today...
Upon my lips it played,
And Danced to a tragic romance,
That took everything I gave,
It rained on me today...
A trickled sound it made,
Alone when everyone's gone,
Because it seems the only way,
It rained on me today,
And slowly began to fade,
Broken by words unspoken,
And words that I can't say,
It rained on me today,
“Let go.” and I obeyed,
Tears for all the years,
And all the wrongs that I forgave,
It stopped raining on me today,
And I slowly released the blade,
And I cried before I died,
I wish I could have stayed,
It rained on me today,
And the box kept the rain away,
Peace and tragic release,
Eternal rest within my grave.
