The Rose (repost)

Like a queen
she stands -
a budding flower
in silence,

Hiding her frailness
in the shadow
of her beauty -
a perfect symmetry,

Stunning
a thousand eyes
and even more . . .
butterflies are mystified,

Bedazzled
by her abiding strength
or it must be her sweet, lingering scent
she breathes into the heavens

As an offering
that she may grow and flourish,
be loved and cherished . . .
her soft petals opening

With the gentlest breeze whispering:
"Praise Him who makes you rare,
the Master Planner who puts you there."
