Happily ever after is all a lie
Which is why I decry that Cinderella must die
Her story has made its way all around the world
Slowly ruining the lives of many young girls
Thinking that what they need is not earned but comes in a poof
When nothing could be further from the truth
But our daughters are impressionable
They believe whatever we tell them
And in the immoral lessons that Disney sells them
"You're a princess sweetie and one day a prince will come and sweep you off your feet
And you'll live happily ever after and your dreams he'll complete"
Knowing it's a lie 9 times out of 10
But we continue to tell them over and over again
I'm not innocent, for the record I'm stating that I'm guilty as heck
For spreading this myth and perpetuating the princess complex
Now it's time that we stop it. It's time that we end it
It's a crime. It's awful and it's making our daughters dependent
Instead of an enchantment for kids filled with majesty
What it actually is is a tragedy
So to alter history let's move forward and not hesitate
To put Cinderella out of her misery before it's too late.
Do it now or you'll be sorry
When your daughter becomes the victim of this story
And grows up believing in fairy tales
Choosing to be in a fantasy world
Losing the battle for career and salary
By refusing to deal with reality
Waiting around for Prince Charming on his trusty steed
Instead of focusing on the things she wants and what she needs
So again I tell you, so no doubt you know
That Cinderella has got to go!………
