Know that your adversaries are watching. Know that there are people that wish to do you harm. Know that you will always have critics. Know that you will need to grow a thicker skin because your opposition's sole purpose is to see you crack. Life is a game of chess and your enemies are trying to place you under submission all while pursuing their ultimate goal which is to wipe you out and remove you from the board. Know the rules of the game. Understand the situation that you are involved in. Learn who the true power players are as opposed to the pawns. Separate yourself from the pawns and isolate them and cater to the real power in the room. The more you talk to them and familiarize yourself with their strategy the more power you take away. Although you may feel reluctant you must at first submit to their power and appease them or they will do everything within their power to shut you down. You gain your own power by isolating theirs and bowing to it when need be even if you have future plans of overthrowing them. Remember that some can be overthrown and some cannot. Know how to pick your battles. Know the nature of the people that you are up against. Some are haters and spectators without any ideas of their own, waiting to see what you're going to do, hoping you'll fail. Some are opportunists or brownnosers waiting to pounce on the first sign of success and others are bosses with ambitions greater than your own. So I warn you, this task will not be easy. It is not for the faint of heart. Power does not relinquish itself willingly and those who possess it are usually not into sharing their secrets openly. Play the game. Study the rules but don't study too long or your opportunity may be missed. See where it is that you need to strike and execute. Do so with subtlety as to avoid making your intentions look obvious but attack with precision. This is how you go about slowly turn your stick into a sword.
