*June 13th, 2013: The US accuses Syria of using weapons of mass destruction against its own people (the rebels) and claims to have conclusive evidence.

Ok. I'm going to switch gears for a moment and talk about something very important. As I was driving in to work the other day, I was listening to the BBC on the radio and they were talking about Syria, its President, Bashar Al Assad and the possibility that he had deployed or was planning to deploy chemical weapons. They were mentioning how America and others in the international community (mainly Britain and France) were all up in arms about it and how something had to be done. Then they played a sound bite of UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, who is the former South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs, admonishing the Syrian regime for this possible offense and warning them of the dire consequences. So I thought to myself. Ok. I'm a rational guy. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If this is true and the Syrian government has deployed chemical weapons against its own people then I can see why everyone's so upset about it and maybe there should be something done to prevent further damage and loss of life. But then common sense began to take over. I thought about the poor reputation held by the organization (The UN) that was pointing fingers and I thought about how time and time again they had looked the world square in the face and lied. I said to myself if members of this organization had lied about Iraq, why wouldn't they lie about Syria? What made me question it even more was because it sounded like the exact same lie they'd told years ago. You know the one. They have weapons of mass destruction. They're gassing they're on people. The man's a mad man. He has to be stopped. He has to step down or be ousted. We need a regime change etcetera, etcetera. So needless to say, I was a bit skeptical. After my skepticism had completely set in I was overcome with a startling revelation. Allow me to further expound. First, let's define chemical warfare; Wikipedia defines chemical warfare as a type of warfare that involves using the toxic properties of chemical substances as weapons. This type of warfare or weapon, like nuclear warfare and biological warfare is considered to be a weapon of mass destruction or a WMD. All though not considered a conventional weapon, this weapon is still considered to be very dangerous and highly destructive. Well to make a long story short, as I continued to listen, a mind jolting question popped into my head. That question was, if they're so worried about people being killed by harmful chemicals, why are they not worried about the harmful chemicals that we're ingesting in our food, water and other drinking beverages. While Ban Ki Moon and everyone else at the UN are worried about if there's chemical weapons being deployed in Syria, who amongst them is worried about the millions of deadly chemicals that we are consuming on a daily basis? Who amongst them is worried about the cocktail of chemicals and the barrage of contaminants that consumers are being forced to consume around the world? Things like fluoride, genetically modified organisms, excess sodium, horse meat, meat from diseased cows, saturated fats, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, antibiotics, contaminants from plastic, growth hormones, aspartame, things loaded with sugar and other preservatives. What about the things in our food that we can't even pronounce that needs to come out and even the possible existence of biological agents? Shouldn't it be considered as a war on consumers if the government deliberately refuses to disclose information about GMO ingredients and other harmful food additives? Should this be tolerated? Should we have to sit back and watch as our loved ones die from cancer or cancer related illnesses due to cancer causing agents in our food? When is the FDA and the USDA actually going to start doing their jobs and stand for something other than being another government sanctioned bureaucracy that caters to big business? What is their purpose now other than being another agency that has been vested with the power and responsibility to protect the public but seldom utilizes it or puts it to good use? What good are these institutions when their best response when it comes to guarding us from harmful additives in our food and drugs is either to look the other way or tell us that their hands are tied which is usually due to their undying commitment to big pharmaceutical and agricultural giants? Why are people that we have endowed with the public trust sitting as board members to private corporations who have in turn bought their loyalty and their political influence? The USDA has to have a higher calling. Their silence and inaction regarding dangerous chemicals in our food is guaranteed to have damning repercussions in the future. We have to get them out of the back pocket of Big Agriculture whose only purpose it seems is to acquire more money, more power and more control of small farms. The biggest example that immediately comes to mind is a multinational corporation that's literally wreaking havoc around the entire world. They are the Devil without disguise, the monster of all monsters, the menace of all menaces, the Satan of Satans, Monsanto; better known as Monsatan or Mad Science Inc. When will the world demand that this House of Evil be dismantled? When will we stand up to this government assisted poisoning of the population? When will the nightmare end that every meal is a mystery and eating is like playing a game of Russian roulette? When will we ask real questions and demand real answers about the ingredients in our food and the incomprehensible scientific terms and jargon that can't even be found in a dictionary, encyclopedia or a thesaurus? How long can we sit across the table and watch as our children chump up and down on contaminated food? There has to be something done and there has to be something done now. Supporting small farms and educating ourselves in regards to what we put in our mouths and learning how our food is grown, packaged and prepared is step one. Saying no to dangerous GMO ingredients and recognizing and reporting harmful chemicals is step 2. And finally step 3 is we need to withdraw our financial support from companies that don't have our best interests in mind as far as health is concerned and also withdraw our political support away from the politicians that cater to them. This consumer injustice has to end. The hypocrisy on behalf of the US and others in the West is simply appalling. It goes beyond the pot calling the kettle black. UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon knows all too well about the harmful effects of GMO ingredients and other dangerous chemicals that may be found in the food chain. In 2001, his home country of South Korea mandated labeling of foods containing genetically modified (GM) ingredients while America and its sitting president refuses to address the issue even though he promised to do exactly what the South Koreans have done when he was campaigning for office. Now, truth be told, the South Koreans have not totally alleviated the threat of GMO because at times it still finds its way into their food chain without welcome. So it is still affecting their population in a sense but the great story in this is that they did have the good sense to mandate the labeling of products that contain GMO ingredients so that their population would be informed giving them the freedom of choice. Further observation uncovers even more evidence of hypocrisy from the West. A closer look uncovers even more evidence of a possible conspiracy. For instance, why does the US government allow chemicals in food that are illegal elsewhere? Why are we allied with countries that are strictly banning things that we are consuming, deeming them highly controversial and unsafe for human consumption? Why are they supporting companies like Monsanto that are deploying herbicidal weapons around the globe destroying other countries' indigenous crops? How can we point fingers at other countries when we were the architects of herbicidal warfare against the Vietnamese destroying their crops and their ecosystem with napalm which in turn caused mass casualties? How can we cast stones when we have used psychochemical warfare against our enemies and tested the effects of psychopharmalogical agents on our own soldiers during the Cold War (Operation Delirium)? So let's face the facts. The US is indisputably the only country in the history of the world to use WMD's on a massive scale. Has anyone heard of the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima which resulted in an estimated 300,000 plus casualties that occurred immediately after impact and within the following months? These two instances are the only recorded use of nuclear weapons in war to date. So believe you me; nobody knows their chemical weapons and their nuclear weapons like the US. Nobody! When it comes to WMD's, take it from me, the US government really knows its stuff.

*June 14th, 2013: To a not so warm reception, the Obama administration submitted what it called definitive proof to the UN of Syria's use of chemical weapons saying that the Syrian regime had used them against the rebels "but" there was no evidence that the "rebels" had done the same. Of course not Mr. Obama. Of course not. We all know that the rebels are a peaceful, fun loving bunch of freedom fighters that only fight for truth, justice and the American way. Well that is unless you've watched the news and read articles that point out the atrocities they've committed. That is unless you've learned through different reports that no one can really tell the rebels from Al Qaeada. And now you've made the decision to arm them. Oh well, I guess that's okay. Whatever it takes to win the so called war on terror and bring another Middle Eastern country to its knees which in the end will only further destabilize the region, produce more terrorists and cause more death and destruction. Good job Mr. President. Good luck with that.
