'' It's Dry We Are Being Bled ''

As another politician enters the dust,
Platitudes from ex colleagues are always a must,
Regardless of persuasion is it right and just,
Not to speak ill of the dead.

A total stirrer in his political career,
When he spoke they all cowered in fear,
A great orator who caught everyone's ear,
Both educated and very well read.

The leader of his party, which was small and few,
He always made sure he claimed what was due,
But politicians being a dishonest crew,
He ensured he had some extra bread.

He condemned all those who were on the fiddle,
Aimed from the hip straight down the middle,
Why the hypocrisy is really a riddle,
He must have been off his head.

The one he brought down crossed that line,
But right from wrong he failed to define,
For the self same reason he was forced to resign,
His career was hanging by a thread.

But politicians from shame are totally immune,
Living as they do in a Teflon cocoon,
They will not lose employment anytime soon,
For it's not with the truth they are led.

He kept his employment despite being caught,
Losing his leadership did not leave him fraught
Up till he died he was still talking rot,
His story should fill us with dread.

If you were caught with your nose in the trough,
I can guarantee you would be paid off,
Then these con merchants wonder why we scoff,
When their fiddling is so widespread.

What a life, they are never to blame,
None of them know the true meaning of shame,
For a breath of fresh air they would make a claim,
Every one of them we should behead.

When found out he immediately shored up his defences,
Self justice a politician never dispenses,
Just another corrupt M.P.fiddling his expenses,
