Mortality

I face my own mortality while watching the lightening and rain in this darkness.
It bites at my heals as I stand before the flashing light and cold rain.
I look down to a cat rubbing on my legs wanting attention. How short your life is cat. Humans age slower but in the end we all end up the same way.
Animals and humans leave their bodies only to remain a memory to others whom they leave behind. How sad our mortality is flaunted at us everyday from newscasts and media publishings.
However short or horrible your life seems now, take another look around and realize how blessed you are to have had the privilege to make it this long. Not everyone can say the same.
Lead me now into dreamland where immortality is real as long as I stay asleep in my slumber
