Poetic-Verses

'' Curiosity Killed Humankind ''

They say curiosity killed the cat,
With that I'd be forced to agree,
But it's also true of a whale or a bat,
Indeed the same thing will happen to me.

I've been around for millions of years,
But in efforts to improve my lot,
I've left a few of my compatriots in tears,
Sympathy for others I just haven't got.

From the very first day of my induction,
Other life forms have cowered in fear,
I alone am responsible for their destruction,
It's a miracle that I am still here.

As I've evolved my brain has got bigger,
I'm far more intelligent than you,
Don't I make a marvellous figure,
I've convinced myself that is true.

Forsaking all others on my personal quest,
I've made the world a better place,
All other life forms find that hard to digest,
They'd say I'm an utter disgrace.

I've made spaceships that can reach for the stars,
Fuelled by chemicals, which poison the air,
I invented tools and wheels for cars,
They're now the cause of great despair.

Weapons of woe causing genocide,
Nuclear power to fuel my land,
From reality I do tend to hide
Against my enemies I must make a stand.

Material goods, which gave me great wealth,
Are worthless when you've nothing to eat,
Starving has a detrimental effect on your health,
Poisoning the water is another great feat.

What I've taken from the Earth I never put back,
With nature I am on a collision,
My very being is now under attack,
I have treated my home with derision.

Those faraway planets are out of my reach,
My actions I now truly regret,
But ignorance is a subject you don't need to teach,
It's far too late now to fret.

There's nothing left now I'm standing alone,
To create mass extinctions I was designed,
The human species can no longer atone,
