There was a time we were misled,
Disobedient and stupid;
So we were spiritually dead,
Because of being insipid.

We were slaves to all kinds of lust,
Things that were giving us pleasures;
With many idols that we trust,
And considered our treasures.

We were quite mean as well as rude,
Jealous being green with envy;
With an obnoxious attitude,
With a pride that others could see.

We were hated to each other,
Anyone who got in my way;
Even my father and mother,
I just felt I could not obey.

When our Savior did appear,
With His kindness also His love;
I suddenly felt a new fear,
That had come down from up above.

He saved us but not what had been,
Rather for His mercy and grace;
To free us from all our sin,
And adopt us as to embrace.

Through the washing as done within,
By the Holy Spirit that gives;
A chance to confess our sin,
Through Christ the Father forgives.

It gives a renewal a new birth,
God pours a generous amount;
Of mercy while here on earth,
Waiting to clear our account
