The age of war has run its course
Upon landscapes that bled remorse
The cries of soldiers echoes through
This land where many fought for you
Blood was spilled, great sacrifice
Became of them their life the price
To give this day if just a thought
This world where peace for you was fought
On beach where sands and surf
Bled crimson red of deepest hurt
In jungle brush where home became
A final stand of life now lame
Here on foreign soil walked on
The boots of men still there but gone
Lay claim to soil that needed them
To bring it peace and war to end
There are no words but silence there
Speaking volumes on land that spared
A plot for them that gave their all
A stone of white that heard life's call
To those now gone and those still here
Those who put to bed their greatest fears
Know this no words can tell your story
But GOD knows well of Hell and glory
Thanks falls short, if one should give
Their time of day as life would give
A breath this day because of those
That gave their all where loss them chose
Hold your breath with eyes yours closed
Hold till burst of need yours grow
To breathe once more as they cannot
Breathe for those that time forgot
Draw deep of air that they once breathed
Know well of them in cause believed
For all mankind. for those who left
A part of them behind still wept
Memorial Day, a day to reflect and honor
Life that served and still serves
