Welcome to My life in the shadows

SACRED HEART

I remember the haunted days
spent recklessly
in the corrupted years of youth.
Us boys running bravely
through the applause of autumn’s leaves
crunching under feet
as fall’s thinning shadows
filled our eyes.
A memory made even more ghostly
under moonlight skies
casting our puppy-love-dreams
over our shoulders
as the Frilly Nuns
over at Sacred Heart Chapel
fluttered by,
one by one
eating sponge cakes and buttered buns,
while uttering words
only lost pages
in long-forgotten books
dare to remember.
