I hear your laughter
slip out of
another person's lips
and I hear them pronounce
the words the way you always did ;
and the videos of you
that I saved in my memory
begin to play ;
I'm stuck here
thinking about you again
I hear your passion
in someone else's voice
and I wonder
if your eyes still glimmer
when you talk about
all that you love.
I feel your heartbeat
when I'm anxious
because I remember the day
it calmed me down
as I matched my breath
to yours.
I repeatedly claim
that I want to forget,
when the colours of you
were so vivid
that they burned their way
into my eyes
and stayed ;
now I see the world
in all the colours of you
even as I deny that I do.
