Happy Birthday To My Grandson Tommy
Another year beneath his belt...
Time to celebrate once more...
One more candle on his cake...
For he's now twenty-four
We once called him Little Tommy
But we can't do this anymore...
Men of his size are very much
Considered big men, that's for sure!
Now, big may not be in height and weight
Or intelligence supreme...
But in character, insight, and soul...
Things which are so seldom seen.
Once a sweet and chubby baby
I could bounce upon my knee...
But, now-a-days the bouncing
Would be Tommy bouncing me!
I loved him from the moment
I first held him to my heart...
And this love has never faded
Although we're many miles apart.
Though he's faced many an obstacle,
He's conquered one and all.
And, in my eyes, these accomplishments
Have made him stand real tall!!!
So congratulations, Tommy...
And a Happy Birthday, too.
Please know this always, Yankee Boy,
Your Cajun Grandma does love you!
Love,
Grandma Doris
