THE LAST MINUTE

THE LAST MINUTE

You must agree that every minute counts
And if not enough of them the pressure mounts,
Racing against time seems to be the norm
Always when we have duties to perform.

In other cases people just let time slip by
`I`ll do it later` they say with a sigh,
They would sooner be able to defer
Later rather than sooner is what they prefer.

But the last minute is a god send to them
Whoever thought of it is a little gem,
For if it wasn`t for the humble last minute
Nothing would get done so we must give it credit.

The last minute is the most important of all
Like a last minute goal when scored in football,
Or you may have heard someone say with restrain
`You`ve left everything `til the last minute again`.

Arriving at the last minute nearly being late
When they`ve known in advance the time and date,
Or people have a last minute change of heart
Sometimes with this a bombshell they impart.

Last minute shopping near closing time
People seem to make this their pastime,
Making a last minute decision
Can be met with some derision.

So to the last minute we all must hail
`Cause without it most people would fail,
It has saved people by a hair`s breadth
Probably from an unsavoury death.
