The poorest of the poor
I was laughed at for my raggedy dress
I was proud to be a bus monitor
Help the kids in and out of the bus
Sat at the very back pew of the Church
I remember a girl saying,
"Dandy you don't belong in our Church!"
"You wear the same clothes every day."
It hurt!
Then one day the bus driver
Took a liking to me and one day said,
"Dandy I know you love basketball.
The High school team is playing for State
Would you like to go as my son's guest."
From that time on I knew there were kids like me
I am proud of my son hockey is an expensive sport
The kids provide their own uniforms
One boy could not play his parents lost their jobs
The boy was never not allowed to play silently
Today he is playing at a high level
The week is the Hockey showcase in Pittsburgh
My son is playing host to two visitors from Alaska
