I was twelve years old, when my grandma died
i can never forget seeing my grandpa cry
They were married together for almost sixty years
And- GOD knows---together--- they --faced --all --their fears
They-- raised --ten --children-- on --the-- FARM
My --LOVING --GRAND -MA,-- she --had --so-- much-- CHARM
ill ---always--- remember--- her--- warm ---EMBRACE
and ---the ---loving ---smile -- upon--- her----FACE
My -grand -ma -and --grandpa, --for-- almost--- all -their --LIFE
they ---were--- so ---happy ---as ---husband ---and ---WIFE
When --i --was --a --boy, --of --twelve-- years--OLD
i --wanted-- a --loving-- woman-- as --my --grandma --so --strong --and --BOLD
When ---my ---grandma ---DIED
my ---dear--- old ---grand- pa ---CRIED
For--- almost---all ---of---their--- LIFE
they --were --together-- as --HUSBAND-- and. --WIFE
When-- i --was-- a --boy --of --twelve --years --OLD
like --my --grand -pa,-- i --wanted --to --be --strong --and --BOLD
The ---woman ---that --i ---married ---would ---have ---to ---BE
as--GENTLE-- and ---LOVING---as ---my ---grandma ---you ---SEE
For--- almost--- all ---of ---their ---LIFE
they ---were ---so ---happy--- as ---HUSBAND---and ---WIFE
I was twelve years old, when my grand-ma--DiED
I --can --never-- forget -SEEING --my --grand- pa --CRY
I will ALWAYS, REMEMBER, her warm ---EMBRACE
and the LOVING--SMILE--UPON--her----FACE
My grand-ma, and grand-pa, were the BEST--you--SEE
AND--AN--EVER-LASTING--IMPRESSION--FOREVER--THEY--HAVE--LEFT--ON---ME
I wrote this as a song way back in-- 1994
