Jury duty was serving your country
Much as putting on a uniform
Things have changed
I suppose I have grown somewhat bitter
This area has become the Heroin capital of America
The homeless have taken over every street corner
I was once nearly homeless so I can feel
In the mail it arrived: Official Jury duty notice
I remember the first time naive and ready
First question-"-Anyone in your family in law?"
My son's a legalese two police Officers in family
I figured these were a plus--nope!
"Do you own a weapon?"
Shotgun and hunting rifle shelved and not used
Any infractions?
Lets see--seat belt violation when I was wearing one
ticket strickly for revenue--I showed the officer my belt attached
"$101 fine not debatable --You know, "Click it or Ticket!"
Drive with dogs on your laps speed switch lanes cellphones

$240 fine most going to camera company in Cincinatti
The case I was called in for: three young boys 13, 15 and 16
Drug sell gone bad--went into house and shot out the walls
