“The Look”

She was past
her prime
But that was part
of her allure
it wasn’t something
you could just
put your finger on.
She had a fantastic
Look,
Even into her 40’s
not many men
could let her
walk past
without taking
at least a
Quick second
Glance
and if you were
Lucky enough to
see her often
you would swear
you never saw her
in the same outfit
Twice.
Her clothes always
matched her mood
but her mood
never seemed to
match anything.
It came natural
for her
to adopt
an Audrey Hepburn
Look,
On her way out
to go shopping
whether it be
in some of
the finer stores
or to go
poking through
A garage sale
wearing the patented
black cocktail
dress
on any
Sunny
Saturday afternoon.
She loved
Venice beach,
the unique
Characters
strolling up and down
the boardwalk
was one of her
favorite places
to showcase
her fashion statements.
Only a week ago
she put in
an appearance
dressed in a
Japanese school girl
Sailor uniform,
Complete with
knee high socks
and big blue bow.
Now there are
always plenty of
young and very
beautiful women
weaving their way
through the various
sunglass vendors
and tourists.
Use to getting
all the looks
and attention
of the constantly
changing audience
but on this day
as soon as she
stepped out
onto
that wide sidewalk
she owned it.
The hot,
Young,
darkly tanned
rollerblading blond
showing off almost
all of that
finely toned body
with a wave of stares
following her every
cut and stride
that she made
with those skates.
She
could feel their
sudden absents
as the 40-something
fair skinned woman
dressed in a
Japanese,
School girl’s
Sailor uniform
started pulling in
all the advailable
looks,
even the vendors
who have seen
everything
cease their
carvinal style barking
to get a
good look
at this rush of
fashion
as it struts along
the walk.
And when she
Passes,
You try and tear
Your eyes away,
But then you see
The “Hello Kitty”
Backpack
She is wearing
and you forget to
stop staring
till she’s clear
out of sight,
Never really knowing
if you were
captivated
by her looks
or the package
she was presenting
them in.
She enjoys the
attention
but more for
the conformation that
her fashion choice
is working
then for
her own
personal appeal.
Today,
Well
she’s not sure
what kind of mood
she’s in yet.
She turns up
her stereo
starts to sway
and bounce
to the music.
As the beat
and her dancing
start to pick-up
more energy
she throws open
her closet
looks over her
wardrobe choices
for the day
gives one
an approving head
Nod.
Still letting
the music
drive her body
around the room
she steps out
on to her apartment
Balcony,
Looks out over the city
and yells as loud
as she can
“LOOK OUT”
“L.A.”
“I’M COMING”
“FOR YOU!!!”…
