Ever forget to Pray

Ever think to yourself, how did I get here?
Like you covered your eyes and forgot to steer
So caught up in the journey you forgot the destination
Driving on the left like they do in other nations

Ever walk around all day with two different socks on
Although you couldn't see it you just felt wrong
Or the shirt you thought was black was really midnight blue
But you felt really good until the moment you knew

Where am I going with this? I don't know myself
I just thought I'd address this to someone else
Ever leave your house feeling you left something behind
Or search for something that was in your hand the whole time

You start the day a little off, and it stays that way
It happen to me when I forgot to pray
I woke up a little late and in the big rush
I didn't quiet my spirit and tell my flesh to hush

All day it roared and screamed for sin
Like the big bad wolf trying to get in
Not that my flesh isn't always there
But never had I been so aware

It took some time to figure it out
Or for me to ask the Lord what this was about
Seeking answers led me to pray
Like I should have before I began the day

Good thing God is never far behind
Closer that the keys you couldn't find
When you calm yourself and breathe Him in
Then your real day can begin
