Selected Poems

Sangiovese

Under a Tuscan sun, exposed skin burns for love.
Her sweat boils away as she bends, rising quickly
purpled from gathering grapes in the vineyard.
The blood of Jupiter escapes from her lips.

She swallows, drinking whole heart, sees all of a man
thinking all is fair and she equal to his lightening.
Familiar with feeling herself burst into flame
nothing remains, but footprints of the dance.
