Christmas Kitty

Little kitty, perched high upon Christmas tree,
Why must you continue to torment me?
Coughing up hairballs with dreadful hack;
Spitting and hissing while arching your back.

Shredding the furniture but not scratching post;
Playfully yowling when I need sleep the most.
Disdaining caresses with uplifted head;
Then kneading my lap to ready your bed.

Entranced by yarn or pinprick of light,
Pouncing on whatever enters your sight.
Kicking your litter all over the floor,
Leaving deep claw marks on our front door.

Now Christmas is over, time to put ornaments away:
So will you get out of our tree you darn stray!?!?!
