O God, You are my God,
My soul thirsting for You;
My flesh faints as I laud,
For water I pursue.
I have looked upon You,
Beholding Your power;
Your glory I construe,
My love not to sour.
Because Your steadfast love,
Is much better than life;
The endurance thereof,
Helps me cope through the strife.
For my lips will praise You,
Bless as long as I live;
Because Your Word is true,
Showing grace to forgive.
I will lift up my hands,
For my soul satisfied;
Praise You and Your commands,
And proceed to abide.
I think of You in bed,
Meditate through the night;
Through Your Scriptures I read,
Reflecting from Your light.
For You have been my aid,
Sheltered under Your wings,
So I am not afraid,
Of which Your shadow brings.
My soul clings unto You,
Your right hand upholds me;
Feeling myself renew,
As my soul follows thee.
Those who seek to destroy,
Shall find themselves down deep;
You are sure to deploy,
Not to wake from their sleep.
They shall fall by the sword,
Withdrawn by the devil;
Condemned by You, O Lord,
Judgment for their evil.
The king shall feel gladness,
As all who swear by You;
Rid themselves of sadness,
Bidding evil adieu.
