Keep light

He admits he had caught some sun
with broken mirrors and a butterfly net.
Hoping it could last one more winter.

She confesses she had gathered full moon light
in whiskey potion bottles filled, clear with water.
Believing magic could return with birds in spring.

Together they harvest starlight
in large old-time mason jars
with holes poked into the tops.

They know new love would have space
to breath, glow and grow in flashes of fire.
