What gain has one from his toil,
And the profit of his labor;
Working his hands in the soil,
For the envy of his neighbor.
I have seen the business that God,
Given to the children of man;
Showing the Lord honor and laud,
While taking care of His plan.
He made everything beautiful,
Puts eternity in his heart;
Yielding a harvest bountiful,
Remember His Word to impart.
I perceive of nothing better,
To do good as long as I live;
And joyfully to the letter,
All to the Lord that I can give.
For everyone should eat and drink,
Taking pleasure in their toil;
A gift to man that we should think,
Let not our time to spoil.
I perceive whatever God makes,
The Lord will endure forever;
That people fear for their mistakes,
Knowing His love will not sever.
