Stop for just one drink……..

Just another happy hour Friday night,
the whiskey train is off track and runs
full freight and full steam downhill.
Northbound it's whistle blowing spit
wet through your clench drenched brain.

Smirking jerk of a cornered Wurlizter
eats crisp fistfuls of wrinkle dollars and
smokes roll after cigar roll of quarters.
Endless plays sing-song after miserable song
A hee haw-ing mindless donkey disc jockey.

Seasons grow colder and what's she's doing now
is tearing you apart, moon bean by neon moon beam.
Barroom sit and spins, on and on, an empty dance floor.
The merry go round calliope bubble machine horns
sound off, rise and rise, ice into your florescent blood.

Feet tap the floor, look to stop the tilt a whirl
around that damn barstool pony you're still riding.
8 seconds more, you cowboy up to rodeo down.
Drink double fisted until last call you a cab.
Don't have to go home, you can't stay here.
