Arise in pleading your case,
Contend before the mountains;
Let the hills feel your embrace,
Your voice flows like the fountains.
Controversy with the Lord,
Strong foundations of the earth;
Indictments are not ignored,
Without pleading of their worth.
O people what have you done,
How God has worried of you;
Testified what you have begun,
Listened not to what is true.
He brought you out of the land,
Redeemed you from being slaves;
Honored not any command,
Allows sin to dig your graves.
You may know the righteous acts,
That you shall come to the Lord;
For truth, you must know the facts,
And remain in one accord.
Bow down before God on high,
Come with your burnt offerings;
Repent as you out-loud cry,
A sacrifice fit for kings.
Will the Lord be pleased with sheep,
With thousand rivers of oil;
Will He allow you to sleep,
After your troubled toil.
Shall He give you your firstborn,
Fruit from your body to sin;
Iniquities you sojourn,
Corrupting the seed within.
What does the Lord require,
Doing justice and humbly walk;
Give up unrighteous desire,
Speaking only righteous talk.
