God is our refuge and strength,
Very present help in trouble;
To persevere at any length,
That pulls me out of the rubble.
So therefore we will never fear,
Even though that the earth gives way;
Knowing that the Lord will be near,
Guiding me not to go astray.
Although the mountains may be moved,
Out into the heart of the sea;
What matters that it has behooved,
That the Lord has willed it to be.
Even though its waters roar and foam,
The mountains tremble and swell;
Free-flowing waves tossed as they roam,
Amongst the fishes where they dwell.
There is a river where streams flow,
Makes happy the city of God;
The holy habitation does show,
The Most High is honored to laud.
The Lord is in the midst of Her,
God will help her at morning dawn;
She’s not moved as light does occur,
Shines bright as darkness are gone.
Nations rage as kingdoms totter,
But the Lord of Hosts is with us;
No matter what others utter,
God of Jacob is our fortress.
