I write no new commandment,
But one you had from the start;
Once you heard as a testament,
Should be written in your heart.
A new Law I write to you,
Darkness is passing away;
And unto Christ, which is true,
Shining brighter than the day.
Saying you are in the light,
But have hated your brother;
Then the darkness blinds your sight,
And no love for each other.
Bide in the light if you love,
No stumbling to make you fall;
For the light comes from above,
From where you will hear Him call.
You will walk in the darkness,
Because you are full of hate;
Others notice your starkness,
That will be sealing your fate.
The darkness has made you blind,
And is causing you to sin;
Aimlessly confused your mind,
Being corrupted within.
So I am writing to you,
Since your sins are forgiven;
For His name’s sake remain true,
For your ticket to Heaven.
You have known Him from the start,
To overcome the evil one;
What I write please take to heart,
For the Father and the Son.
I write knowing you are strong,
And His Word abides in you;
Evil tries to do you wrong,
But Christ helps you to construe.
