When you come together,
Each one will have a hymn;
With a tongue to gather,
Interpret on a whim.
Let everything be done,
For interpretation;
Let any speak in tongue,
Without hesitation.
If no one interprets,
Let them all keep silent;
Speak knowing the limits,
Not to be fraudulent.
Letting two prophets speak,
One can judge the other;
By weighing what they seek,
Construing the brother.
So let someone reveal,
Another sitting there;
Of what it might conceal,
The rendering to share.
Let the first hold his peace,
By what they prophesy;
All controversy to cease,
In God you glorify.
Comfort so all may learn,
Encourage your spirit;
That as a saint to earn,
Through your speech and merit.
The Lord is not a God,
Author of confusion;
Rather of peace to laud,
Hope and inspiration.
